First annual Central PA Chainsaw Carvers Festival

The Central PA Chainsaw Carvers Festival is a first annual chainsaw carving festival that will be held April 15 (4p.m.-8p.m.), April 16 (11a.m.-8p.m.), and April 17 (11a.m.-8p.m.) at the Shippensburg Fairgrounds in PA.

The festival is an outdoors, family-friendly and fun-filled event which will feature over sixty professional chainsaw carvers from across the United States, including, but not limited to, Mike Ayers, Josh Miller, Chris Lantz, Brooks Abeln and Jennifer Black.

The event will also feature ax throwing provided by Axe Slingers of Chambersburg, speed carvings, a variety of vendors such as Redemption BBQ and The Wheelhouse Cafe, various food trucks, carver/artist booths with carvings for sale and other fun activities. 

All carvings will be auctioned on the last day of the event, Saturday April 17 at 3p.m.

Among the vendors will be Melissa Ball, owner of Melissa Ball Feather Painting, who shares her excitement for the event, writing over Facebook, “I absolutely LOVE chainsaw art and am so excited that we were invited to be a vendor at this! Mark your calendars for a fun road trip to this one.” 

Other people, such as Tim Reichi, shared similar excitement to attend the festival by commenting, “This is going to be a great event!! Can’t wait” on the official Chainsaw Carvers Festival Facebook page. 

The participating carvers are excited for the event as well. For example, Ron Adamson, who worked with stone in the late 1980’s before returning to chainsaw carving, voices through Facebook, “I’m pleased to announce that I will be participating in the Central Pennsylvania Chainsaw Carving Competition, as a carver and as the auctioneer.”

Fees/Admission – Advance Ticket Price 

(Day of tickets will be additional $5.00 over advance ticket price). 

$5.00 per person, per day 

$12.00 full event 

$40.00 full event family of four. 

Kids under six enter free 

As a reminder, CDC and Pennsylvania Department of Health COVID-19 safety guidelines will be followed. There will be a limit of the number of attendees per day, according to PA Department of Health guidelines. Masks are required.
