Dr. Barbara Baker, the Animal Loving 2015 Commencement Speaker
Sunday, May 17, 2015, Wilson College will welcome Dr. Barbara Baker, DVM, as the 145th annual commencement speaker.
Baker is currently the President and CEO of the Pittsburgh Zoo and Aquarium located in Pittsburgh, Pa and has worked there for the last twenty years.
Baker was raised on a tobacco farm in North Carolina and made her way to Auburn, Alabama to study veterinary medicine at Auburn University. She has earned a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of South Carolina.
Her dual degrees make her the perfect candidate to run the Pittsburg Zoo and Aquarium. Her DVM degree gives her the knowledge of what animals require and her business degree allows her to navigate the world of finance in order to properly fund the zoo.
As a liberal arts college, Wilson has found the perfect candidate for a commencement speaker in Baker. She combines a variety of disciplines, which Wilson encourages, and is a model for leadership and perseverance for the graduating students of 2015.
