Honors for Phoenix Softball Players
The North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) has released its South Division Softball All-Conference Team selections consisting of first and second teams and comprised of the top 20 players as selected by the NEAC coaches. Players are chosen for the All-Conference teams regardless of their playing positions.
Sophomore pitcher, Taylor Crouse was named to the South Division All-Conference second team. Crouse finished the season with a .261 overall batting average and hit .364 in conference play. On the mound, Crouse earned an outstanding 11 wins and finished with a 3.55 earned run average. She is an integral part of the Phoenix pitching staff that ranks fourth in the conference in overall earned run average. Crouse averaged six strikeouts per game and totaled 98 strikeouts overall in 110 innings pitched.
Senior second baseman, Megan Schneck, was selected to the South Division All-Conference first team for her outstanding performance on the softball field this season. Schneck finished the season with a .412 batting average and totaled 35 hits. She led the conference with 13 stolen bases and scored 22 runs.
Junior shortstop, Ashleen McCullough was named to the South Division All-Conference second team. McCullough placed third on her team in batting, recording a .411 overall batting average. She led her team with 37 hits and 20 walks and struck out just four times. McCullough also recorded a .500 slugging percentage. Defensively at shortstop, she posted a .902 fielding percentage and totaled 40 putouts and 52 assists.
Freshman pitcher and first baseman, Kayla Sullenberger was selected to the South Division All-Conference first team. Sullenberger recorded a .419 overall batting average including a .385 batting average in conference play. She led her team with four homeruns and 33 runs batted in while maintaining a .689 slugging percentage. Currently, Sullenberger leads NCAA Division III in runs batted in per game with 1.74. In the pitching circle, she earned four wins for the Phoenix.
