Senior Courtney Bernecker became the new leader in career goals scored at Wilson when she scored her 32rd career goal against Trinity University.  Bernecker surpassed Mary Miller ’08 in the record book, who tallied 31 goals while at Wilson.

“I feel very honored and thrilled that I beat the record of the most goals scored at Wilson,” said Bernecker.  “I am glad that I could make an impact on the Wilson soccer legacy and will be remembered for my efforts.”

Bernecker began her collegiate soccer career with impressive numbers as a freshman.  In the 2010 season, she recorded nine goals. In 2011 and 2012 she tallied seven and eight goals respectively.  Bernecker has scored nine goals in the 2013 season with four games left on the schedule.

“Courtney is such a talented soccer player and works extremely hard for her team,” said head soccer coach Beth Weixel.  “I am so happy she was able to achieve this honor and leave her mark in the Wilson soccer record book.”

Bernecker is a veterinary medical technology major and will graduate in the spring of 2014.  Her record breaking accomplishment will be recognized on her home turf on Saturday, October 19th before the game against SUNY. IT beginning at 1pm.
