The Let It Go suicide prevention event, hosted by the Wilson College counseling center and the student wellness club Footsteps, is being held at 7:30 p.m. in front of Lenfest on Tuesday, May 3. Paper lanterns will be set free at dusk to represent students letting go of the worries. After the event, there will be discussion and desserts.

“It’s an event to promote awareness about suicide prevention,” Leah Rockwell, Wilson College Counselor, explains. “It will be a short program about ways that we can start conversations with others about their wellness and will include inspirational readings of poems, spoken word, et cetera.”

Many students have shown interest in being involved, including Kyleen Wolfe ’19.

“I’m looking forward to seeing some lanterns because I have never done something like this, and I am also hoping for a calm atmosphere,” states Wolfe.

It is important to be aware of suicide prevention strategies. For more information on the event, contact Leah Rockwell at leah.rockwell@wilson.edu.
