Why I Love That Donald Trump is a Candidate

Those who know me are aware that I am a huge Bernie Sanders fan, so it may come as a shocker to know that I love Donald Trump as well. Although it’s not for the reasons you may believe. Trump has become known in the political world as the guy who “is going to make America great again” from slogans on baseball caps to his “reality television” like rallies, and the United States is in an uproar with this wildcard on the voting ballot. There is a huge political divide in the country, not just over democrats and republicans, but over who is for and against Donald Trump.

Now I would never vote for Donald Trump, but I am really appreciative of the fact that he is currently in the races, leading the races in fact! Here’s why:

  1. He entered the political race with barely any political knowledge.

If you read the about page on his campaign website donaldjtrump.com, you’ll find no mention of political knowledge. Instead the                       page is littered with boasts about how he was a Grand Marshall for the Nation’s Day Parade on November 11th, 1995, his 7 million                         twitter followers, having lunch with the Secretary of Defense, and how “You’re fired!” is listed as the third greatest television                                 catchphrase.

  1. His consistent changing of political stances.

In the latest GOP Debate on March 3, news anchor Megan Kelly showed video evidence of the multiple times Trump retracted his                       statements on the Afghanistan war, the Syrian refugee crisis, and whether or not former President George Bush lied to get the nation               into a war. “I changed my tune and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it,” he said.

  1. His strong racism and derogatory comments.

The Huffington Post gathered several examples of Trump’s racist remarks made not only throughout his campaign but in the entirety               of his life, such as when Trump stated “When Mexico sends its people, they’re not sending they’re best. They’re not sending you.                           They’re sending people that have lots of problems, and they’re bringing those problems with us. They’re bringing drugs. They’re                           bringing crime. They’re rapists. And some, I assume, are good people.” At a rally in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Nov. 24, Trump mocked                     disabled reporter Serge Kovaleski, by mimicking his physical difficulties in front of a large crowd.

I love that Trump is a candidate, because he is terrifying the nation. This man has millions of supporters and that scares me, it scares plenty of people. This is the man that is currently winning the primaries and could be the representative for the Republican party. I love that Trump is running because people are realizing how important it is to vote. I don’t care who you vote for, but vote. Do not think that your vote doesn’t matter. If you don’t, we could end up with this man as our nation’s leader. One whom the United Kingdom actually debated banning from their country back in January for his hate speech. Every vote counts. Please go register, if you haven’t already, and vote!
