The first of three shows within the Spring Horse Show Series, run by EQS 220: Management of Equine Events, was held March 29. The show ran smoothly. Only a few classes were omitted due to lack of entries. Sharielle Lawrence-Cadet ‘15 and “Merlin” placed first in the Open Halter class and second in the Open Showmanship class. Mackenzie Leary, age 13, and “A New York Diamond” placed second in Open Halter and first in Open Showmanship. Many Wilson Students competed with their own horses, their friends’ horses, and Wilson-owned horses. Several riders from the local equine community brought their horses from off-campus to participate. Students and community members enjoyed the long day, and many observers plan on competing in the next show. The deadline for the early entry discount for the April 19 show is April 9.
The remaining show dates are April 19 and May 9. The date for the Combined Test is April 12 and registration closes April 2. Early entry submission is encouraged. The show is open to students and outside competitors with updated health paperwork. For more information, please contact email@example.com.
