“Justice League” Review
Despite the poor reviews received online and by Rotten Tomatoes, DC’s “Justice League” is the one of the most recent movies not to disappoint its viewers. Starring Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Ray Fisher as the first members of the Justice League, this all-star cast is a force to be reckoned with.
Starting the movie off, there is a poor-quality video of children interviewing Superman. The children are asking him questions about what his favorite things about Earth are and what his favorite animal is. It ends unexpectedly, only to showcase Batman in Gotham, chasing some random guy to capture an alien. Since the alien is drawn to people by fear, Batman scares this guy to draw the alien to him. Shortly afterward, Batman, or Bruce Wayne, goes on his way to find Aquaman, Arthur Curry, and Flash, Barry Allen to help fight an alien invasion since he cannot do it on his own and Superman is dead. Dianna, or Wonder Woman, approaches Bruce and explains that there is an alien invasion about to happen after her home is taken over by demons. Together they recruit Cyborg, or Victor Stone, who is tied together with the boxes that they need to protect. After the team gets together, they team up to bring Superman, Clark Kent, back to life. This goes south as Clark does not remember who he is. Bruce had a plan, though, and brought Lois Lane into the picture to stop Superman from killing all of them. Once Clark realizes who he is, he chooses to help Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and Flash fight Steppenwolf, a demon from the planet Apokolips to keep him from destroying the Earth. Although there is a little bit of tension between the two heavy hitters, they fight well beside each other. The end of the movie shows Barry and Clark racing, trying to see who is faster in a fun competition. There is also an end scene after the credits that shows Deathstroke taking off his mask, leading into another movie.
This movie is filled with great humor, great acting, (thanks to Ezra Miller, Jason Momoa, Gal Gadot, and Ray Fisher), and great effects. To watch this, you had the choice of watching it in digital format or RealD-3D. Jokes filled the movie along with some actual character development that has been lost throughout many DC movies. This big DC fan was pleasantly surprised with how the movie turned out. As someone who favors the television shows to the movies, this was the DCEU’s first step in the right direction for the movie franchise.
