As a first time attendee of InfieldFest and Preakness, I honestly did not know what to expect. This is also the first time I went to an event where I was an actual reporter, or where I at least felt like one.

I felt like there was a serious disconnection, though, at this event and wanted to try to explain myself as for why this happened. For instance, I did not hear about the horse deaths even though I was there, and I could not gain access to certain areas even though my media passes were supposed to let me. Why? I really do not have the slightest clue.

I do know that I felt like I came out of it not getting what I was expecting. To those of you who are reading this or read my other articles and expected some interviews, I’m sorry. With the rain and all, even if I had tried to interview fellow fans, it would’ve just been a mess. As for why I could not get actual interviews, the horse world is not something I feel entirely comfortable with yet, so I’m not even sure what I would have asked the jockeys, trainers, etc. had I had the chance to interview them. As for the artists… there was just so much confusion there and they remained inaccessible. From what I was told, anyway.

This was my first experience in an official media-related event so I have at least lived and learned. Here’s to my next event hopefully being more accessible.
