The Wilson College Hunt Seat Team (WCHS) had great success at the Regionals, Battle in the Saddle (BITS), and Zones the past few weekends. Competing members had great rides, and coach Megan Mendenhall’s result landed her an invitation to Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Nationals in Lexington, KY in early May.

The team competed in the Regional show as part of Zone 3 Region 1 first in New Jersey. Captain Molly McElroy ’17, placed third in the Walk, Trot, Canter Class, and Cassandra Watkins ’18 placed first in Walk Trot. Additionally, Kerri Bennett ’18 placed third in Walk, Trot, and coach Mendenhall placed first in the Alumni Over Fences Class. Morgan Thomas ‘18 placed eighth in Novice Flat as well. Additionally, Thomas and Adele Reinoehl ’17 had good rides in Walk, Trot, Canter, and Novice Fences, respectively.

The placings at the Regional show determined who would be invited to go to BITS or Zones the following weekend. Anyone who placed first or second at Regionals in any class was invited to Zones, while anyone who placed third to sixth place was invited to BITS.

BITS was the first day in a two-day show, with Zones following the next day. BITS went well, with McElroy placing ninth in Walk, Trot, Canter, and Bennett placing seventh in Walk, Trot. Haley Glofka ’18 placed fourth in Open Over Fences, and seventh in the Open Flat class.

To end the weekend, Watkins placed tenth in the Walk, Trot class at Zones, and coach Mendenhall won her Alumni class. She will be heading to IHSA Nationals the first weekend in May held in Kentucky.
