Field Hockey Hosts Special Olympics

by Samantha Burmeister

The Wilson College field hockey team will host Special Olympics athletes at a series of clinics beginning on February 4 at the Frank E. Gannett Memorial Field House.

The team will host four Special Olympics field hockey clinics every Tuesday in February from 6pm to 8pm.  Special Olympic athletes will work directly with players and staff of the Wilson field hockey program.  The clinic incorporates various shooting and ball handling drills, as well as live game competition.

Wilson field hockey has participated in clinics with the athletes of Special Olympics for several years.  Special Olympics of Pennsylvania offers sports instruction and competition in a variety of sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities.  Through Special Olympics, athletes can increase their physical fitness, establish confidence, and express joyfulness with their families, community, and other Special Olympics athletes.
