Fall sports recognize senior student-athletes

As the Wilson College field hockey and soccer teams head into the last few weeks of regular season competition, they will take time to recognize senior athletes for their academic and athletic achievements. Both squads graduate a large number of seniors, and both teams rely on the experience and leadership of their senior players during the current seasons.
The Wilson soccer team recognizes seniors Caileigh Oliver, Courtney Bernecker, Breana Cardasso, and Janelle Wills. All four seniors made great contributions to the Wilson soccer team, and their individual athletic achievements will be missed.
Caileigh Oliver, a native of Martinsburg, West Virginia, has appeared in 43 games for Wilson. She has been a valuable starter since her sophomore year. Oliver majors in history and political science, with a concentration in political science. She also serves as the president of the Wilson College Government Association (WCGA), a Resident Assistant (RA) and is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC). Oliver is also a member of the Wilson Lacrosse team.
Courtney Bernecker, a native of St. Thomas, Pennsylvania, has appeared in 62 games for the Phoenix. She has started every game she has played in her collegiate athletic career. On October 17th, she became the new leader in career goals scored at Wilson when she scored her 32nd career goal against Trinity University. Bernecker is also on track to break the career points record sometime during the remaining games of the season. Her latest career numbers include: 33 goals, 3 assists, and 69 points. Bernecker is a veterinary medical technology major, a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, and a member of the VMT club.
Breana Cardasso, a native of Etters, Pennsylvania, has appeared in 62 games for the Phoenix. She has been a starter since her freshman year and has started every game in which she has played. Cardasso majors in veterinary medical technology and is a member of the VMT club and the Campus Activity Board (CAB).
Janelle Wills, a native of Dysart, Pennsylvania, has appeared in 59 games for the Phoenix. She was a starter in every game during her junior and senior years. A dual-sport athlete, Wills is also a member of the Wilson softball team. Wills is a biology major and a member of the pre-vet club. She also serves as the Class of 2014 vice president, a Resident Assistant, and a member of the Wilson chapter of the FFA.
The Wilson field hockey team recognizes seniors Megan Schneck, Victoria Whitbred, Brittney Smith, and Katie Omori. All four seniors have made great contributions to the Wilson field hockey program, as well as the campus community.
Megan Schneck, a native of Bethel, Pennsylvania, has appeared in 61 games for the Phoenix. She has been a starter since her freshman year. Schneck’s most recent career numbers include: 26 goals, 11 assists, and 8 game winning goals. A dual-sport athlete, Schneck is also a member of the Wilson softball team. She is a veterinary medical technology major and the president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Katie Omori, a native of Vista, California, has appeared in 50 games for the Phoenix. She has been a regular starter during her senior year and has accumulated 8 goals in her collegiate career, including 2 game winning goals. Omori majors in exercise sports science and is a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Victoria Whitbred, a native of Emmitsburg, Maryland, has appeared in 55 games for the Phoenix. She has been a regular starter since her freshman year and has a total of 4 defensive saves during her collegiate career. Whitbred majors in psychology and is also a member of the Phoenix Lacrosse team.
The Wilson College athletic department recognizes and applauds these senior athletes for their academic and athletic accomplishments. Thank you for your dedication and commitment to Wilson athletics. Your athletic and leadership skills and your commitment to Wilson will be truly missed.
